Section 504: An Overview

This is an overview of Section 504 and the requirements about elementary and secondary public schools. Participants will learn about the criteria for child find, evaluation, eligibility, developing 504 plans, and disciplinary practices for students who qualify under Section 504.

Audience: District and building 504 coordinators, administrators, and school counselors.

Strategies to Support Adolescent Readers

Please join us for a day dedicated to supporting adolescent readers! This collaborative workshop, hosted by KDE, KY-ABRI, and OVEC, will focus on exploring short and powerful strategies to enhance reading skills in the areas of advanced decoding, morphology, vocabulary, and comprehension.

  • Explore evidence-based strategies from the Institute of Education Sciences Educator’s practice guide AND strategies from the Strategic Instruction Model (SIM™)
  • Learn how these strategies can be easily integrated  into content area instruction as well as support settings (Tier 2, Tier 3, or special ed.) 
  • Network and share best practices with fellow educators
